TRUEDEM: Trust in European Democracies (2023-2025) is an international research project funded by the Horizon Europe program of the European Commission. TRUEDEM aims to explore and understand the levels of trust in European democracies, as well as factors influencing trust in democratic institutions and processes. Currently TRUEDEM is seeking proposals for data collection services for its online survey.
Scope of Work: The selected vendor will be responsible for conducting data collection for the TRUEDEM online survey in up to 11 European countries: Austria; Czechia; France; Germany; Greece; Italy; Poland; Romania; Slovakia; Slovenia; Sweden. The survey aims to explore political trust attitudes to democratic institutions among the adult population. The required sample size in every country is N=1500 (completed interviews). Target audience: adult population in the age 18+ years, residents of the listed above countries. All samples should be representative of the population structure in terms of gender, age, income, education, urban/rural settlement patterns. The questionnaire comprising of about 180-200 variables will be provided by the TRUEDEM project team (including the translations into the national languages of the surveyed countries). Period of data collection: April-May 2024.
Key Requirements:
Recruitment of survey participants from diverse demographic backgrounds (including people with a migrant background) in each of the 11 European countries.
Administration of the online survey in multiple languages as required by the target countries.
Implementation of appropriate measures to ensure high data quality, including validation checks and response validation.
Compliance with ethical standards and data protection regulations in each participating country.
Submission of the final dataset and technical report to TRUEDEM.
Submission Instructions:
Interested vendors are invited to submit proposals for data collection services by March 27, 2024. Proposals should be sent to office@truedem.eu and christian_haerpfer@univie.ac.at.
Proposals need to include (1) information on the organization’s profile; (2) description of the proposed sampling approach and sample design; (3) time plan; and (4) budget specifications (costs shall be provided for every of 10 countries separately and shall include all applicable expenditures).
Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Experience and expertise in conducting large-scale online surveys, particularly in a cross-national context (25%).
Proposed sample design, including engagement of respondents from diverse demographic backgrounds to deliver a national-wide representative sample (35%).
Cost-effectiveness and competitiveness of the proposal (40%).
