Metropolitan University Prague

TRUEDEM team in Czech Republic is based at the Metropolitan University Prague and is led by Ladislav Cabada, Jean Monnet Chair who also participates in two COST programmes, was main investigator of TEMPUS-JET project, European Social Fund project, European project “MELIA” supported from the Interreg programme. He served as President of Czech Political Science Association (2006–2012) and Central European Political Science Association (2012–2018). The team brings in expertise on comparative politics of East-Central Europe, party politics and electoral studies, theory of consensual democracy, Europeanisation and Euroscepticism, qualitative social research. The team leads WP5 “New identities and emerging cleavages: implications for political polarization”. 

Ladislav Cabada is Associated Professor (Czechia) and Extraordinary Professor (Slovenia) in Political Science. He studied Political Science at the Charles University in Prague/Czechia and University of Ljubljana/Slovenia; next to Czech academic institutions he repeatedly worked also abroad (Hungary, Slovakia, Germany). Recently he works as the Vice-Rector for the Research, Quality and Development at the Metropolitan University Prague, where he is also guarantor of programme Political Science at MA and PhD level. In 2005, he co-founded with Šárka Waisová the international scientific review Politics in Central Europe and has been working as the editor of this journal. Since May 2021, he acts as one of the twelve members in the Executive Committee of European Consortium for Political research (ECPR). He focuses mainly on comparative politics of East-Central Europe, regionalism and development studies, Europeanisation, Euroscepticism and political anthropology. 

Petr Just is a comparative political scientist, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science and Anglophone Studies, Metropolitan University Prague, Czech Republic. In his research, he focuses on the political, constitutional and party systems and developments of the countries in the Central and Eastern Europe, and on coalitions and bicameralism. Recently he also focuses on the U. S. political and party system. He authored or co-authored numerour books, book chapters  and scientific articles. He has been members of leadership of Czech Political Science Association (Vice-President since 2015) and Central European Political Science Association (Secretary General since 2018).  

Jakub Charvát is a comparative political scientist at the Department of Political Science and Anglophone Studies, Metropolitan University Prague, Czech Republic. In his research, he focuses on the politics of electoral reform, electoral studies, political communication, party politics, and contemporary history and politics of Central Europe. He is the author or co-author of more than ten books and several book chapters and has published numerous articles and studies in scientific journals. 

Oleksandra Kovalevska is a Ph.D. candidate of International Relations and European Studies at Metropolitan University Prague. Her research is primarily focused on climate and sustainability politics of the European Union. She is also a member of several research teams, working on projects focused on European and Eurasian regional integration and supported by the EU’s Jean Monnet Programme and Czech Science Foundation. Her research was published in international scientific journals and think tanks.
