University of Silesia in Katowice

TRUEDEM team in Poland is based at the Institute of Political Science of the University of Silesia in Katowice. The team is led by Prof. Dr. Agnieszka Turska-Kawa, Director of the Institute. Her research interests include the psychology of politics (particularly in political behaviour and civil society), corruption, and broadly understood pathologies of democracy. Her recent project includes educational grant "Trust as a value: corruption, inequality and social capital" (2020-2021). The team brings in experience on psychological perspective on social and political trust, youth policy and educational policy, voting and political participation, crisis of trust and populism. The team will act as a partner in a several WPs. 

Agnieszka Turska-Kawa is a political scientist, psychologist, director of the Institute of Political Science. Coordinator and researcher in numerous grants, including in both scientific and research (Horizon Europa, NCN, COST CA15207, NCBiR, Ministry of Regional Development) and social projects implemented in cooperation with local government units (EDIH). Winner of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education scholarship for outstanding young scientists. Deputy head of the Research Center for Public Policy and Regulatory Governance. Her scientific interests include the psychology of politics, particularly in the context of political behaviour. She is interested in motivations and emotions ruling politics, cognitive aspects of political choices, and broadly understood pathologies of democracy.

Elżbieta Turska is a psychologist, experienced researcher, valued teacher, and Psychology Degree Programme Director at the University of Silesia in Katowice. Her scientific interests include the psychology of work and organization; she deals with the capital of modern professional careers and changes in work and organization. Founding member of the Polish Association of Organizational Psychology (PSPO) and founding member of the Polish Association of Practitioner Psychologists. Contractor and coordinator of research projects, e.g. international project "Virtual Social Economy Incubator" (EQUAL), "Diaprezamus - diagnostic and methodological package supporting the process of professional orientation of children and youth". He is qualified as a career counsellor.

Dawid Tatarczyk obained his PhD in political science from Western Michigan University, USA (2018). He is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Silesia in Katowice. In his academic activity, he focuses on the study of the influence of religion on politics, the analysis of democratization processes and the examination of the development and application of social science methodology. His articles have been published in leading academic journals such as International Journal of Public Opinion Research, East European Politics and Societies, Qualitative and Multi-Method Research, and Polish Sociologic Review. His research was also funded by the American Political Science Association.

Kornelia Batko, Ph.D. in economic sciences, is a Professor at the Institute of Political Science at the University of Silesia, Poland. She authored over seventy scientific papers. Member of research teams, and contractor in research grants (ESF, OPKED, ERDF and university projects). Her area of expertise is health policy, analytical systems and big data use in healthcare; self-care and public well-being; trust and credibility, especially in electronic markets; communication and personal branding (especially in healthcare and politics) and social media performance.
